This new bridge, spanning 210 feet between trunnions, increases navigable waterway width of the Intracoastal Waterway from 100 feet to 125 feet, and vertical clearance from 22 feet to 55 feet, over the previous 1956 bridge at this location – the Commodore Brook Memorial Causeway. Striking features of this bridge are its V-shaped Carina piers (providing excellent visibility for shipping navigation) and the Art Deco-style bridge operator’s house. Also notable are the open traffic railings (for greater vista visibility), emergency shoulders, bicycle lanes and sidewalks – with pedestrian overlooks incorporated into the bascule spans.   • "Memory 99" is an outdoor steel sculpture designed by Lee Kelly, installed at the north end of the North Park Blocks in downtown Portland, Oregon.  The two-ton sculpture is fabricated from Corten steel, giving it a stable, rusted appearance.  The sculpture is located at the entrance to the Pacific Northwest College of Art’s (PNCA) Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design and was dedicated in 2012.

This bridge replaced the original 1894 wrought iron truss steam-powered swing-span bridge, two spans of which were repurposed as the current Bull Run River Bridge and Sandy River Bridge on Lusted Road, both in neighboring Clackamas County. Striking features of this bridge are its riveted double-intersection (lattice) Warren trusses featuring intermediate sub-verticals – an uncommon truss configuration, and its ornate bridge operator’s houses. The bridge was designed by Gustav Lindenthal and Joseph Strauss. Other notable features are its hidden below-deck counterweights, ornamental concrete balustrade railings, and fine metal railings on the lift spans. This bridge has great historical significance.   • Vegetated Filter Strip treats rain water runoff from parking lot before it reaches a swale which in turn discharges the stormwater into a nearby stream.   Vegetated filter strips are now a widely accepted best management practice (BMP) for low impact development.  They work on the principle of contact time and therefore require low runoff velocities.  This is achieved by maintaining low-angled slopes and avoiding flow-concentrating features such as curbs.

Puente de la Armada Española - 2006 (Bridge of the Navy) is a cable-stayed pedestrian suspension bridge over the Rio Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Fuengirola Castle or Castillo Sohail is a 10th century Arab castle occupied by the Moors and later conquered and ruined by the Christian Monarchs in 1485.  Rebuilt by the French during the 1807 Peninsular War, and successfully defended from a British-Spanish force at the Battle of Fuengirola, 1810 by a band of 200 Polish soldiers.  The castle was renovated in 1995.
